Rob Hallett is CEO and founder of Robomagic. With more than 30 years experience in the music industry, Rob is recognised as one of Europe’s most successful music promoters. Artists he has toured or promoted in recent years include, Beyonce, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Leonard Cohen, Justin Timberlake, Prince, Neyo, R Kelly, Kanye West, Usher, Destiny’s Child, Mary J Blige, The Who, Rod Stewart, Jennifer Lopez, The Rolling Stones and Justin Bieber to name but a few. He was Music Week Promoter of the Year 2009 And Pollstar Promoter of the Year 2009 and 2012.
In February 2005, Hallett founded AEG Live in the UK Rob’s main role at AEG Live was to build the company’s profile internationally and establish AEG Live as the promoter of choice for artists touring Europe. Hallett stayed with AEG Live for 10 years during which time he presided over some of the highest grossing and most successful tours of the decade.
In 2007, Hallett brought Prince’s record breaking 21 sold-out shows to London’s O2 Arena. Rob also persuaded Leonard Cohen back onto the road in a massively acclaimed world tour. Bon Jovi, another one of Rob Hallett’s long time acts, had the second highest grossing tour in the world for 2008 and the highest in 2011/12.
2012 saw both Hallett’s and AEG Live’s biggest year to date, with tours from Bon Jovi, Justin Bieber, Leonard Cohen, Rod Stewart and The Who topped of by a spectacular performance from The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park for the inagural Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park event.
Prior to joining AEG Live, Hallett was a director of Mean Fiddler Music Group, where he established the company’s touring division and developed it into one of Europe’s promoting powerhouses. In his five years at Mean Fiddler, Rob was one of the architects behind the operation growing from an independent outfit to a stock market-listed company.
Before Mean Fiddler, Rob spent 10 years at Marshall Arts where he made the transition from being an artist agent to a concert promoter. He has also been an artist manager, counting Andy Taylor, Youssou N’Dour and Usher – among his clients. In the 1980s, Rob worked at Derek Block Agency where he helped build the careers of such acts as Duran Duran, Adam and The Ants, UB40, Talk Talk and Dexys Midnight Runners.
Since his introduction to the live music industry, as a 16-year-old promoting gigs in a local Sussex pub, Hallet has evolved into one of the very few executives in the music industry who has experience across the whole spectrum of the business. As well as enjoying success as an agent, promoter and manager, Rob has been a festival programmer, tour manager, music publisher, record label managing director and has even owned recording studios. A fanatical supporter of Chelsea Football Club, Hallett lives in Hertfordshire with his partner and young son.
